Academy
Director -
Coach Craig
Barr
Assist. Director - Coach Matt
Lane
IJFA Staff:
- Coach McGarrell - RB coach at Lawrence North HS
- Coach Pond - Rec. Coach at Lawrence North HS
- Coach Baldwin - Def. backs coach at Guerin HS
Motivation:
The initial motivation for the Academy
was to improve the fundamental play of the quarterback, as well as the
skill positions. We initially focused on the QB position because it is
the most difficult and time-consuming position to coach. I have found
over the years that the QB fundamentals are often overlooked at the
lower levels, causing a lack of development of the passing game as a
whole from both the offensive and defensive perspective. This has
forced coaches to rely heavily on the player’s athletic ability
rather than on a good hard working, fundamentally sound player.
The Indiana Junior
Football Academy is based on teaching a solid fundamental foundation to
all of our campers. We truly believe we can teach the fundamentals and
techniques, as well as provide the information needed to improve the
overall passing game in Indiana. We also believe our campers will take
what they learned back to their respective schools. Players will then
be better prepared be to earn playing time and build towards a
championship-playing career.
Academy Director:
After directing youth camps for eighteen years, I am excited for
the opportunity to direct a camp as specific and fundamentally
based as the Indiana Junior Football Academy. Our goal is to breakdown
the fundamentals and techniques which will positively influence the
fundamental skill level of junior high players. We believe these
fundamentals will better prepare players to compete this fall.
